What are Tantric Postures?

Tantric postures refer to the positions used in the practice of tantra , a spiritual philosophy and set of practices originating from ancient traditions, primarily from India, that seeks to connect body, mind and spirit. Although often associated with sexuality, tantra is much broader and encompasses aspects of meditation, energy and spiritual development.

Within tantra, tantric postures can be applied in different contexts:

  1. In meditation and yoga: There are postures that help channel internal energy (prana) through the chakras (energy centers in the body), promoting the expansion of consciousness and spiritual enlightenment. These postures may seem similar to traditional yoga postures, but in tantra they are given an energetic and symbolic meaning.

  1. In tantric sexuality: Tantric postures in this context refer to sensual positions that seek a deeper connection between partners. The goal is not only physical pleasure, but to achieve a deeper spiritual and emotional union, prolong the sensual experience and generate a conscious energetic exchange between the participants.

Tantric postures often focus on breathing, mindfulness, connecting with one's partner, and channeling sexual energy toward spiritual goals.
